A Portrait of Tracy

A portrait of Tracy is a little known tune by Virtuoso bass guitar player, Jaco Pastorius.

I was captivated by the harmony and movement of the original and so arranged the tune for brass band tuba quartet (2 x EEb/2 x BBb), each in effect taking a string each.

The arrangement features a middle ‘vamping’ section where the band sing to create luscious background textures, as well as 5/4 jazz harmony riffs and grooves.
